I won’t list off the studies that show more sleep is good for you, I’m sure you know that fact to be true. I’m also sure that you know some of the tips you can use to help fall asleep better: no screens for a while before bed, drink hot tea or warm milk, take a relaxing bath, turn the lights down. You know that.
With a hubs that works very early in the morning, I’ve struggled some with my sleep schedule (waking up at 3 am then not going back to sleep until 8:30 or so is not my idea of fun), but I’ve pretty much regulated this schedule by going to bed a little earlier.
If I have my way and the time to do it, my optimal going to bed has me asleep by 10 pm. Around 9 (sometimes earlier), I may hop in the bath and bubble it up with some yummy peppermint or raspberry tea and maybe even take a melatonin if I need a little bit more of a brain slowdown. Cue up the chill music (Dawes, piano, whatever strikes the mood that evening) and it’s on.
Of course, it’s important to go to bed early so you can follow up on Day 9….
