Balance

When I think about the word balance, I think about staying even and steady. I think about being able to attack both tasks that makes me happy and knock out those that aren’t as preferred.

I was originally thinking of balance as having a lot to do with not letting go, but it’s actually the opposite of that. By being able to get rid of those things that throw your balance off, it can make life exponentially better.

By letting something go, it doesn’t even have to mean that you make your top 3 instead of 5 cookies for the holiday party, it could simply mean you take a bubble bath instead of pushing hard on a project for an hour when you’re about burnt out.

Taking the time to find a balance and keep it can add to your sanity and happiness overall as well. For example, this weekend, I totally vegged out on the couch quite a bit (I’m at the beginning of Season 5 of Gilmore Girls and that’s when it starts getting really good!). I did know that laundry needed to be done before I went to work today at noon, so I made the choice to tackle it this Monday morning.

Not only did it feel amazing to get something accomplished early in the week, but it was nice to have a deadline and something to focus on first thing this morning. I’m proud that I was able to take a moment, plan ahead and be productive.

Do you guys do anything to help gain and keep your balance? Do share!
