To start off our holiday party food, we made my dear friend Sarah’s Grandma Ruby’s Cereal Mix. When we were talking a few weeks ago, Sarah passed along this recipe and I was in.

The recipe is pretty flexible and makes a ton (Sarah says around 5.5 gallons) of the mix and is yummy. The recipe is pretty much for the oil and spices and works wonderfully. As you can see in the photos, I used corn chex, rice chex, a duoz box of cheez-its (parmesan and cheddar flavor) and some pita crackers that I broke in half (they kinda worked as the bread pieces like in regular chex mix). The Cheez-its were the whole box and I used 3/4 of the box of Chex cereal, but I’d say use the whole thing.

Once you mix up your mix, pour 1 cup of your oil on top and mix it up. Whirl the oil around a little more and add the remaining 1/2 cup.
Once it was done baking, we put the mix out on parchment paper to cool off and then put it in mason jars. Add a fun napkin to the top of the jar and tie it off with a piece of twine- then it’s perfect for gifting!
The mix is perfect for gifting and is super flexible with the recipe. Sarah suggested it with M&Ms thrown in and we might have added some other spice and roasted garlic in it when putting the oil together. The best part of recipes like this one is being able to make it perfectly yours. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have! Grandma Ruby knows what’s up.
