I’ve got a few things that I enjoy doing that I don’t do on a regular basis. I’m sure we all do as life gets kinda hectic sometimes and we have so much going on in everyday life.
Today’s Self Care action is to do just that: do something you enjoy.
For me, I enjoy cooking quite a bit. On a normal day, Loss generally does the cooking (massively due to our work schedules, plus he’s amazing at it!). I love getting in the kitchen, but since getting married, it’s been hard for me to get in there and make something I enjoy. I recently saw a friend post about making homemade pot stickers and I decided I was going to do it. We picked up ingredients on a Friday after work and Loss said he could put them together that night for dinner.
By the time we got home, I said it was ok, I’d prefer to make the potstickers myself the next day, so he just shrugged and we grabbed a frozen pizza for a quick dinner.
Let’s see how it goes…
The next day, a Saturday, I had time and took the to kitchen. I enjoyed cutting up the onion and sauteing the veggies. I enjoyed filling in the wrappers and rolling them up (full disclosure: I actually got egg roll wrappers because that’s all they had, so we actually made egg rolls). I took my time and loved the process. I cooked up a test batch and they actually tasted great. This was what I enjoyed about cooking: having time and space to experiment, try and enjoy.
So as my egg rolls turned out yummy, I say to you, make time to do something you enjoy. It might be something as small as trying a new recipe, but it could make your week much brighter and be something you can be proud of in the long run.
Not the prettiest, but so YUM and I did it!
For me, I’ve got half the pack of egg roll wrappers in the freezer just waiting for another Saturday when I can get to chopping.
Bon apetit!
